Cell Phone and Shoe Pairings

high-heels-phone

Obviously we try to match purses with shoes and belts with shoes but what about our cell phones? May be a dumb question and I’ll soon find out- but everyone knows that your shoes say a lot about who you are, what you’re up to, and where your going.  I’ve found that those assumptions we make about people’s shoes are just as easy to make by looking at the type of cell phone they carry. The inspiration for this post comes from that assumption and so I’ve taken some commonly used cell phones out there today and paired them with some of today’s must-have heels- matching in terms of look, functionality, purpose, and style.

Samsung Instinct® S30 - Copper (Sprint)Allan Heel - Gold

Samsung Instinct – (Sprint) Less of a smartphone, but looks snazzy, and is better for messaging and GPS nav than business emailing and things for the the corporate chick on the go. Thus, the “Allan Heel” by BCBG Girls pairs perfectly as it is more fashion than function, gets the message across, knows where it stands and is quite the knockoff (because come ‘on, this baby screams Iphone copycat and the shoe is a copy of one of Louboutin’s Spring ’09’s babies).  Nevertheless, its a hell-of-a-lot cheaper than an Iphone or a pair of Christian Louboutin’s but incomparable in functionality, apps (comfort), and style.  Phone aside, I’m into the shoes for sure.

593962 Black Nappa

BlackBerry Storm Smartphone (Verizon) paired with the Givency Black Nappa booties. Hot indeed and almost intimidating. A look that is very in style and can be paired with many of the season’s hottest apparel buys. Despite the fact that the 3G network for this phone isn’t as fast as it could or should be, it is still a pretty powerful piece of technology- if you can stand the tiny lag time.  (We’re so impatient these days!) Same goes for the shoes- with almost a 5″ heel- the shoes won’t get you anywhere that fast either but it doesn’t matter because sometimes you need to take your time to look this stylish as these two promising pieces provide.

Of course I could not forget the iPhone. For those of us that are super-extravagant, there is only one way to go here and that is the 3G iPhone Encrusted with Diamonds, obviously! This phone, diamond studded or not, pairs perfectly with just about anything but goes exceptionally well with these adorable “Tawny Heels” by L.A.M.B They are both pretty flashy, well made, very well designed, and very fun.

Samsung Juke in Red (Verizon Wireless)Brandy T-strap - Red

Samsung Juke in Red (Verizon Wireless)
pairs very well with the “Brandy T-strap” by Paris Hilton Both the Juke and the Paris Hilton shoe are trendy and fun, but neither one is smart or functional. Both are very skinny and can fit into a variety of places.  Samsung and Paris Hilton have both used their names to leverage some sub-par ventures and products (Paris as a singer/popstar, come on, please) and neither the Juke or these “Brandy T-Straps” would have gotten anywhere if it weren’t for their names. Other than the fact that they seem to look cool there really isn’t much else going for them as there is minimal value behind the flashy, thin, and trendy exteriors for either the Juke or Ms. Hilton (and her shoes). Nevertheless, I appreciate both for their aesthetic appeal and entertainment value, keep up the good work you two!

BlackBerry_Curve8900bGreta Pewter Leather

BlackBerry Curve 8900 Phone, Black (AT&T) is a perfect combination with this Stuart Weitzman Peep Toe Pump Both are sexy in their own right, surprisingly comfortable to navigate in and strike the perfect balance between work and play. I personally own a Curve and I absolutely love it. If I were to pick a designer symbolic of the Curve it would be between Weitzman and Choo because just like the Curve, both designers do a great job striking a balance being professional and playful.  I think I favorite this duo.

If Social Networks Were Shoes. . .

If social networks were shoes, what would they be?

blahnik

Twitter Valuation approx. $150 MM = 218,978 Pairs of these shoes.

Twitter is attractive to the 20 something plus generation as opposed to the other social networks which first caught on with the college kids, bands, and high school students.

It keeps it simple, sweet, and to the point- 140 characters or less. Nevertheless, it is addicting and spending too much time on it bad for you-quite frankly, much like a high heel.  Also, with twitter you either get it or you don’t. You either know how to use twitter and write purposeful tweets that add value to your followers lives or you are someone that doesn’t get it or doesn’t care to get it and writes tweets that even your closest friends don’t really care about (i.e you just went to the bathroom or some nonsense). So, with shoes and fashion- you either get it, or you don’t. Finally, like Manolo Blahnik, twitter just came out of nowhere hitting the mass market.  It wasn’t until Sex and The City that everyone knew that these glorious shoes exhisted. Thus, this shoe follows those notes. Its simple, to the point, somewhat quirky, even flirtatious, you either get it or you don’t, and the brand just came out of no where. Thus, twitter shoes by Mr. Blahnik.

Facebook Valuation Approx. $15 B = 474,233,322 pairs of these shoes.

You can connect with a lot of people and get a lot done on this social network. Facebook is for fun and playing.  Nevertheless, I love the useful-ness and practicality of it. It gets you from point A-B quickly and can become your tool to getting things done-like sending out invitations to an event, promoting a cause, or even fundraising. Also, Facebook is all about your memories and connecting with your friends (old and new), exploring who you are, and remembering the good ole days- especially with those pictures. . . “De-Tagg! Please!” Nevertheless, Facebook shoes are an every day shoe.  They get you where you need to go quickly with a little bit of nostalgia along the way.

Myspace Valuation Approx. $3.174 B = 1,872,566 Pairs of these shoes.

Myspace is kind of tacky and a little bit gaudy.  From from my point of view- way too high maintenance. Sometimes moves too slow for me and often attacks a lot of creepers trying to be my friend. Not to be played with much, but when I do I either quit quickly or I become addicted to perfecting my profile and it becomes an all night affair that I know I’ll grow to regret the next day- serious waste of time sometimes. Nevertheless, its somewhat over the top, kind of obnoxious, and full of unnecessary nonsense. Although myspace is fantastic and a pioneer, much like Mr. Louboutin, they both still manage to create something strange and completely unnecessary. Both of which are very proud of this.

Linkedin Valuation Approx. $1 B = 11,235,955 pairs of these shoes.

Promising, young, and opportunistic. Sexy from a financial standpoint and its a pretty good deal. Multiple revenue streams and potential others ahead. The Linkedin shoe is about transforming the business professional and using one’s reputation and image to leverage more growth and business for that individual. Thus, the shoes are powerful in statement and impact, yet smart, classic, and priced at a great value. Nevertheless, they are still very different and trendy.

My inspiration for this post comes from Allison Driscoll at www.high.heels.com Her obsession with purses is comparable to my obsession with high heels. I thought I’d love to help her write a piece more suitable for her high heel blog following a similar concept. Although she did an amazing job matching the purse to the network, we may have different takes and views of the social networks; thus different metaphorical styles in comparison… Let me know what you think Allison!
